How To Setup A Winning Kart Chassis

This ebook is your information source to getting a chassis you know is true and in Winning Condition.

A fresh engine or a new set of tyres won’t give you as much advantage over your rivals as a “spot on” chassis set up that allows you to get the maximum power out of your engine and maximum grip out of your tyres on every part of the circuit.
The biggest problem that faces a karter at a race meeting, is knowing what to change on the chassis and when. After working your way through the chassis setup section, you can go to the track with the knowledge that your kart chassis is straight and not twisted.

Aerodynamics
There are a number of basic rules for the designer to follow with air flow.

Brake maintenance
It is just as important to stop as to go,
So look after your brakes, we show you how.

Chain and chainwheel/sprocket
Fitting notes: There are a few things you may not know and not knowing costs money and loses kart races.

Centrifugal clutches
How they work and how to maintain them. Do you know how to service your clutch?

The rear axle
Once your kart engine has produced all of that horsepower it is then up to the drive train (chain, axle, wheels, tyres) to transmit that power to the track and propel you and your kart as fast as possible. The rear axle is part of this link of power transmission and also plays a very important role in the handling characteristics of any kart.

Setting up for SL kart tyres
(hard compound)
The first basic thing to realise about SL tyres is that they give less grip.

So many karters spend a fortune trying to get their engine "Mickey Mouse" only to blow their dough because they didn't bother too much with the chassis. You see them on the track all the time, you know, the losers! Don't you be one!
